Interesting: I've spent some time on mastodon.cloud today. Not many behavior rules. Just a little "Dont be a jerk" and the usual stuff. I like that idea of freedom. But the local stream is not very interesting.
Now, I've read a little bit on octodon.social. Here we have a set of precise rules about CW and hiding potentially offensive speech. I don't like so much the concept of these strict rules. Feels like being in a classroom with a strict teacher.
But the local stream is very interesting.
@stephanmaus I'd disagree on the strict rules. It even says in the signup info page some of the CW rules are optional, but if your going to go on a 20 minute rant and fill the local TL then yeah you should probably CW.
@stephanmaus I don't think many came here for chaos. That's why they left twitter. You might be alone on that wish.
@DarwinsToffees I think there are a lot of people who are leaving Twitter because they want to leave the "walled garden" and like the idea of a decentralised network.
@DarwinsToffees Okay, let's say very elaborated & granular rules about CW. - But that's perhaps the point. It contributes to the quality of the feed. I appreciate that. Although it "hurts" my ideal of "fertile chaos" .
