hey everyone here who hates advertising
now how am i supposed to advertise for https://maastodon.net/ huh
@CobaltVelvet personal advertisements for a small scale project on your personal platform good
fakey fake fake personal from big company ask over the everywhere bad
@CobaltVelvet all over the everywhere I meant
@CobaltVelvet Maybe on joinmastodon.org?
@CobaltVelvet We don't hate advertising, we hate profiling, tracking, popups, popunders, unskippable prerolls, advertisement that disguises as review, and misleading language.
@jkb yeah but then i though (shitpost + ad) would get the ad even more boosts
@CobaltVelvet Hey go on. People here constantly advertise all kinds of stuff and everyone's fine with that.
@CobaltVelvet You get people like me to post about it 😉
@CobaltVelvet I could put you and masto.host on the joinmastodon.org page, it might be mutually beneficial
@gargron yes that would be nice
@CobaltVelvet I just boosted you via the Mastodon advertising honor system. Please send 0.01 LTC to...
@CobaltVelvet buy twitter ads? 🐦
@CobaltVelvet hey, just so you know, I've got some minor responsiveness problems on mobile (Nexus 5X, firefox focus, which uses the android chrome webview). Otherwise the offer looks neat ;)
@CobaltVelvet with the screencaps it's a lot nicer : https://octodon.social/media/foOghJAuY1zZFePGuI0 https://octodon.social/media/HtH6XC9FFdoP8N08n4w
@tiesselune oh thanks i'll note the issue
@CobaltVelvet Why not use a CW and mark it as "advertisement"?
That's what I would do if I wanted to plug one of my shitty novels.
@CobaltVelvet By not overdoing it?
As someone with a good memory, I decide whether or not I'm potentially interested the first time I see an advert and have no positive response to repetition.
So, it's not the adverts that I hate, it's the drown out the content with repeated tedium method that some advertisers use.
@CobaltVelvet I know a guy
@CobaltVelvet what kinda stuff do you host on? backup to?
@hirojin like, software or hardware? both?
@CobaltVelvet yes xD you don't use any kind of cloud-services?
@hirojin no, it's all dedicated servers. but i'm planning on moving uploaded media to wasabi.com
@CobaltVelvet hrm… wasabi is currently us only tho…
@hirojin thinking about OVH too. i checked their prices again and they wouldn't be much more expensive, actually
@CobaltVelvet #ad
