@pnathan I've heard about some recent changes, some people seem upset. I don't really know what it's about.
@BrunoLefevre Ubuntu is a distro of Linux (Like Samsung does variants of Android).
A few years ago, Ubuntu did their own thing for how they handled the graphical interface. They talked it up like it was the best thing ever, but the other distros largely gave them a big side-eye. Many? Most? power users hated it.
Now they just basically said "uh our bad yeah we'll get back on the community bus now".
@pnathan Oh okay, I get it. Well explained. Thanks a lot!
@BrunoLefevre #Ubuntu will ship #GNOME instead of #Unity as its default desktop. It's kind of a big deal to the Ubuntu community.
@RyanLeesipes Okay, thanks! I understand now.
@BrunoLefevre Ubuntu recently announced that they're dropping support/efforts on their own window manager, and are going to start using the same one that Fedora uses. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/04/ubuntu-unity-is-dead-desktop-will-switch-back-to-gnome-next-year/
@dgonyeo Thanks! I get it now.
@BrunoLefevre It's an open source OS. My favorite distribution would be Deepin.
@Bluegaa Thanks, I was actually asking about the recent news of Ubuntu dropping Unity. Someone explained it. Thanks anyway!
@BrunoLefevre After some investor meetings Shutteworth starting laying people off. Nobody really knows how many people, many projects shut down, including their GUI pet project Unity.
@BrunoLefevre i know linux.
what do you want to know?
