I remember getting phone calls from AOL for creating "illegal" chat rooms meant to share data/photos/etc. but they couldn't keep up so they kept banning me and closing my accounts. And yet...
I just continued to change my username and setup some large file/music sharing platforms because nothing like that existed at the time.
And go figure - AOL is irrelevant now. Photo/music/news/file/etc. sharing is totally the norm.
Weird how things eventually work out 🤷♀️
