@shoutcacophony My lawyer friend says that ~half of the criminal docket in southern California is immigration-related crimes (traditionally speaking).
It's usually 8 USC 1324, alien smuggling, and 8 USC 1326, illegal reentry after deportation.
Illegal entry is 8 USC 1325, and only once had he ever pleaded a guy to that. And that was plea down from a 8 USC 1326. So he got six months in jail instead of 2 years in prison.
