チリヌルヲワカ
@Eidon Hi Eidon, yes, still morning here ^_^ Here it's freezing, but then we never had your 13 degrees. I hope for a bit of sun later so I can take pics of the sakura, as there are quite a lot of flowers now.
The picture is of a Japanese band thatI like a lot, they are called Chirinuruwowaka (チリヌルヲワカ). The only reason I posted it is because I think it's a nice picture ^_^.
@wim_v12e Hi Wim! Thanks for explaining me about the band. Now I want to listen to their music ! :)
Oh my I look forward to new pictures of your lovely sakura :)
Have a great day, dear friend!
@Eidon You're welcome! The singer in the band is called Yuu, previously she was in a band called GO!GO!7188 which is my absolute favourite Japanese band, even though they don't exist anymore.
@wim_v12e Oh then I will proceed orderly and first listen to GO!GO!7188 . Sorry to hear they disbanded...
I always learn great new things, I'm grateful Wim!
@kingu_platypus_gidora @Eidon The name Chirinuruwowaka is part of the "iroha" (いろは) , which is the old Japanese "alphabet", a way to arrange the kana characters. It is actually a poem where every character is used only once.
いろはにほへと
ちりぬるを
わかよたれそ
つねならむ
うゐのおくやま
けふこえて
あさきゆめみし
ゑひもせす
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora Translation (not be me ^_^;)
Although its scent still lingers on
the form of a flower has scattered away
For whom will the glory
of this world remain unchanged?
Arriving today at the yonder side
of the deep mountains of evanescent existence
We shall never allow ourselves to drift away
intoxicated, in the world of shallow dreams.
@wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora Truly moving and amazing... Thank you, Wim!
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora It is, isn't it? And it's very old, from the Heian period (a thousand years ago). Truly timeless.
@wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora Only the Japanese, only the Japanese can blend poetry and humanity with an educational intent. Or maybe the Japanese and J. S. Bach...
They were a great live band so maybe this full concert recording is a good start:

@wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora What a power, what an accuracy. Great! This is love at first hearing to me!
Note to self: this is a rich day!
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora Yay! I wish you could understand the lyrics, they are also very good.
@wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora I know you're very busy Wim, but if you could have a look at the manga called Solanin, by Asano Inio... Somehow, this lovely band reminds of that work! ...I need to thank once again dear friend @cmdr_amarao, who introduced me to that manga!
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora @cmdr_amarao I wonder how you picture me being busy ^_^
But thanks for the suggestion, I found a site where I can read it and I will give it a go, it will be my first manga.
In what way does Gogo remind you of that work?
@wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora @cmdr_amarao I picture you as a person that puts to good use every ounce of their time 😄
So glad you'll give Solanin a try -- I dare foresee that you won't regret it 😄
Gogo & Solanin: it was an immediate association in my mind. Looking at / listening to GOGO sent me the same "vibes" I received when reading certain pages of the second part of Solanin. Same energy, same "truth". I can't tell you more without spoiling you of the pleasure of reading that masterwork
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora @cmdr_amarao You flatter me 😊
Anyway, I've read it in one go, and I liked it a lot. I like the drawing style as it is not too stereotypically manga, and the way the story is told, and of course he character of Meiko. I think the author liked her too as she gets all the beautiful close-ups.
I was particularly moved when she decided to take up the guitar. I'll have to re-read it more slowly for the details. Thanks again for the recommendation!
@wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora @cmdr_amarao I'm so very happy you liked it :) By transitive closure, all thanks including mine need go to our friend @cmdr_amarao! :)
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora @wim_v12e I'd rather say all thanks should go to Inio Asano himself.
@cmdr_amarao @wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora The ultimate root of the chain ! Still, the root alone would spread less joy perhaps :)
@Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora @wim_v12e Funny story...
I read Solanin because I found it in one of the few manga stores we have here in Santiago. I only bought it because I recognized the author, because I'd read Oyasumi Punpun after my ex broke up with me.
@cmdr_amarao @wim_v12e @kingu_platypus_gidora Interesting. I have not read Oyasumi Punpun yet, because when I tried to do so I found it unbearably sad. Sorry to hear you had such an experience when breaking up with your ex :(
@cmdr_amarao @Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora Kind of a bittersweet story.
@wim_v12e @Eidon @kingu_platypus_gidora I as messing around with "spreading joy."
@wim_v12e Good afternoon, Wim! Ah no, it is still morning there so good morning instead :) I was actually thinking of you and your Sakura... I hope the weather in Glasgow be not as bad as in belgium! Here, the temperature dropped by 15 degrees in one night.
If I may ask, what is that photo all about? Pardon my curiosity!
