Back to the daffodils. I love it when there are really large patches of them.

This is the central reservation of the prosaically named Switchback Road, full of daffodils over a length of about a kilometre.

And lo and behold! There was an actual cherry tree blossoming already, for some reason at least a week early.

@wim_v12e That's insane! :-) I've never seen such a thing!

@gemlog It is the longest stretch I know of but it's quite common here to have lots of daffs along the motorways.

@wim_v12e I do love communal planting of daffs in Spring. They make such a difference to a journey.

@toneji They started building the nest about 10 days ago and the eggs hatch after about a month, so probably there will be cygnets in about two or three weeks.

@toneji Yes indeed. It is an odd word but I like it. In French, swan is "cygne"; the -et ending is a diminutive.

@wim_v12e I would be scared to get that close to a nesting swan. They can be quite vicious.

@GwenfarsGarden I know, one of the pair was chasing away ducks and clearly in a bad mood. This was at the far end of my camera's zoom, I was at a safe distance ^_^.
