I really like this little snippet from Murakami's 1Q84:
昼過ぎに激しい夕立ちがあった。空が真っ暗になり、小石くらいの大きさの雨粒が音を立てて路面を
叩き、雷がひとしきり鳴った。夕立ちが過ぎ去ると、あとには水浸しになった道路が残った。太陽が戻ってきて、その水を全力で蒸発させ、都市はかげろうのような蒸気に覆われた。夕方から再び雲が出て、厚いヴェールで空を覆った。月の姿は見えない。
I've put the translation in the image description, apart from the final sentence:
"The moons were invisible."
@Eidon I very much hope you'll like them. I have the English version as well and the translation is very good.
I find reading Murakami in Japanese as a learner a unique experience, it's a very deep immersion. But I've read many of his books in English and enjoyed it a lot -- and it's a lot quicker ^_^
