#introduction #introductions (seriously belated, sorry):
I'm Kevin. Paid computer jockey. Currently herding variety of *nix systems. Not religious about OS, but Wintendos are not my thing.
Ex-USAF, Kinsey 2-3, agnostic pagan (Zen leanings), voracious F/SF/Neuroscicnce bookworm, inveterate (tabletop, pc/console) gamer [yes I nethack, do you?].
Slow starter socially, but once I get ramped-up, I'm just too much. :p

@GeekDaddy Pine/Alpine works pretty well for me - does what I need it to.

Tiny Tiny RSS tt-rss.org is what I set up to do my own RSS aggregation (comics and news). It works great, but I don't think it meets your no clients rule.
But if you knew an accommodating nerd with some server space, it's pretty lightweight and was fairly trivial to set up (Drupal was more difficult).

@craigmaloney
I forgot "beer".

Ah. I'm humour-impaired ("differently abled") for "reasons". Most of them involve "chemicals" and "neurotransmitters". Yay!

Sez you!
(Autocorrect made that 'sex you'; and I'm still trying to work out if that's actually wrong). ;q

Eggplain?

Hadn't thought about ssd impact on battery life. That's probably the kicker. Offloading is trivial, esp with a thumb drive as big as the ssd. Time to start convincing my partner it's a viable expenditure.

So, I found a couple likely candidates, one has a 128G sdd, the other a 520G @7200rpm, otherwise identical. Not sure about the speed trade-off vs storage.
@jason
Depends on what type of person you're trying to attract I would think.

Sounds interesting to me, if only I could find a laptop that didn't suck to run it on.
Dist-Upgraded the home server from Debian 8 (Jessie) to 9.1 (stretch), & for the first time didn't break anything for longer than a couple minutes. Good on them.
But hit a missing dependency snag, and ldd tracing solved it. Time to file a bug report.
Realization: I'm a nerd.

As seen when I went to the car to come home from work. "Q: What does it mean?" "A: Rain and optics!"
@craigmaloney Bandcamped!
And now it's on my phone's SDcard.
