I love Open Source Software. I pay money to the FSF. I've been using Linux full-time since 1994-5.

I worked for Sourceforge from 2008-2010. When the site burped while I was on-call it was me up at 3am making sure shit was working again.

I run my own servers. I serve my own email.

And yet there are certain services that I would rather other folks run because I don't enjoy being a full-time administrator.

Sometimes I just want to get shit done as best I can.

Bias toward free, but pragmatic.

Early thoughts about AER:
* Linux port broken video detector causes black-screen hang at startup (forum post solved)
* Flight controls need in-game explanation, especially since this is game-critical transport. Spent much time flying straight down / lost in clouds. (forum post solved)
* Once you get past initial issues - it's a pretty, mostly open-world, setup w/puzzles that don't require being a mensa asshole to work out. Fun!
* Cleared the first temple and certain I missed stuff.
* Recommend

AER - I am in you ...

Currently wiping FB timeline - prepping to nuke after I drop all contacts.

Not going to Think after all - massive cock-up on the part of my PHB and our SalesWanker. Still going to the the Laptop Hazing project, just going to take my time and real-time blog it.

Looks like company is sending me to Think 2018: ibm.com/events/think/

My project for the next week or so:
* Take "blank" ThinkPad T430
* Install current release of each of the following:
+ FreeBSD, + TrueOS,
+ Debian, + Linux Mint,
+ ArchLinux, + Manjaro,
+ Fedora-WS, + CentOS.

Objective: See which "OoTB" install:
* Is usable for secure work-remote,
* Doesn't require a week+ of 'tinkering',
* Is functional for conference use,
* Is secure enough to use [& lose],
