I just finished 'Strange Times, My Dear,' an anthology of contemporary Iranian writing, and the poem of the title is really sticking to me.
I recommend the book; it's 10 years old now but really an interesting read.

@krst same. But of those I've tried, mastodon has had the best pickup. And the most interesting with the federated vs local timelines.
If you love a balloon, set it free. If it comes back to you, it probably wasn't a balloon.
If you are also a fan of stormy skies here's a 4K short film of lightning in 1,000fps slow motion. Also some lovely cloudporn. https://petapixel.com/2017/12/04/epic-4k-film-captures-beauty-lightning-1000fps/ https://octodon.social/media/SH2bjNC2ucRvqtESlXI

Every month the Washington Post lets me gift someone a 30-day pass to their site. First one to use this link gets it: https://wapo.st/30daypass?code=TON-SCB-PPC-EXS
@Leana (I did add the Chasing Blizzards pattern to my Ravelry favourites, though, you know for that day when I learn how to knit.)
@Leana oh! What a beautiful scarf! I might've joined in but I don't actually know how to knit -- I can only crochet. I'll continue making my little hats, but will be there in spirit. :)
@Leana I am perusing the #mastoKAL2017 hashtag (? is that what they're called over here?) but can't see what it actually is. I presume a challenge of some sort?
@Leana beautiful! if no time for the rest of the sweater, at least you've got an awesome pair of legwarmers. ๐
@nolan I know! that introduction is the second version. the first one I deleted. ๐
@Zoonie this is the hat! each one takes about 4 hours. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/olivers-winter-hat
Hello, all. New to Mastodon. I'm a Canadian journalist (digital editor) and visual artist (analog and digital photography / 3D / looped animation).
I read a lot (news professionally / post-apocalyptic and noir fiction during off hours), spend probably too much time looking at screens (gadget/tv/window), and crochet the same hat over and over (donate them to new refugees).
Also addicted to parentheses, apparently.
And editing. This thing needs an edit button! #introductions
