I need a file server to serve mostly Ogg/MP3 files and perhaps some video.
I am going to use a Raspberry Pi 2 with an external USB. Not a great performer as far as IO is concerned. But that's what I have at the moment.
Should I try 9front or stick with GNU/Linux?

Welcome, new people!
Ways to find people to follow, aside from reading the local feed:
1. write an #introductions post, and hashtag the things you're interested in. You can't search by keywords, you can only search hashtags.
2. search for hashtags of things that interest you.
2a. your instance will only search hashtags on federated toots, so to find more, go to a large instance and search their hashtags. Edit this URL: https://mastodon.social/tags/knitting
Hey fediverse! Is anyone of you interested in #scheme or #lisp (or even #programming in general)?
I’m starting to work on the manual of CHICKEN Scheme’s upcoming major release.
Do you have anything you would love to see in a manual or tutorial introduction? Any input in welcome!
(boost if you want to help a cool open-source project 😇)
Is the Mastodon protocols documented somewhere so that one can attempt an independent server implementation?
bye bye Twitter. Hello Mastadon!
If you are at #34c3, please go and say hi to my friend Arian, Haskell guru from Utrecht and all round wonderful person.

Spent all my day trying to talk to the boards via USB. The USB chip enumerates fine. But read/write fails. The socket that plugs into the cable is a bit flaky. Can that be a problem? If so, why did the device enumerate fine? I have all these questions unanswered.
One thing is for sure. Hardware and low level hacking is a lot of fun.. and frustrating. I didn't set out to do this during these holidays. Dismantling it all and taking it back home with me.
Trying to bring the hpsdr boards back to life.
Gave the little cash money I had lying around in PayPal to the Internet Archive. There's some kind of donation matching thingamajig going on at the moment.
Am I a good person or what.
But so are you!
Anyway, to point out some of the #plan9 philosophy here, and perhaps see its subversion in context: https://youtu.be/XvDZLjaCJuw?t=3m17s Here we see K&R, Lorinda Cherry, et al, talking about the principles of simplicity, community and composability at the heart of UNIX™
It's interesting using my laptop now that its ssd is destroying itself. Lots of stuff is broken, and it's more or less impossible to know why or do anything about it (except reinstall).
Kind of the way using a computer must feel to most people, most of the time.
Whenever I hear a baby in an airport I don't get annoyed. They're just saying what we're all thinking.
I am looking for a new job, remote (preferred) or in Bangalore, India. Most of my experience has been in System programming (embedded systems - video conferencing, encoding, audio algorithms, distributed systems - distributed db, storage etc), but I have a strong interest in Functional Programming and static typing and would like to find a job building systems with Haskell.
