Today in digital archaeology: I wanted a PDF calendar generator and found one from 2009 that seemed nice, but the website had long ago disappeared. Luckily the internet archive had crawled it, and since the code was GPL'ed, I was able to update it to build on a modern system and produce page-a-day agendas for my e-ink tablet. https://github.com/osresearch/DynamicTemplates

as someone who is organizing for an academic union among people who are often told they are not employees and being at the university is a privilege... yeah, it is very very good for all of us that google is unionizing. don't listen to any VC (lol) that infantizes the idea of it.

crying with laughter bc Dedoose could not get their shit together enough in like 10 years to migrate their web app off ADOBE FLASH and now the one thing they had going for them (collab on the web) is not available for the indefinite future
in the year 2020 they shut down their product bc they use Flash 😂
(also their CEO was a major fucking asshole to my colleagues and I will never forget nor forgive)

Women’s Work was created by Olivia Johnson as a reaction to the discrimination that women, notably women of color, continue to face in both the workforce and at home. The medium of cross stitch, a form of art that tends to be labeled as kitsch and a women’s hobby craft, was intentionally utilized to emphasize the fact that women’s labor is routinely dismissed and undervalued.
