i mean, they can talk shit about me all they want, i don't really care, i just think the narrative that i showed up out of nowhere bringing mastodon message scopes and "SJW features" (lordy, you 4chan people don't know me do you? that crowd isn't really my scene in case you guys didn't know) is a little inaccurate ;)

Something to think about: when compiling to machine code the first trickiest optimization compilers need to do is to store as much data as it can within CPU registers.

And in doing so they need to make sure each variable isn't in the same register as any used to compute it.

Throw in the inherently finite number of registers and this becomes the Map Colouring Problem! NP-hard.

It would take forever to compute optimal solutions to this, but they don't need to do a perfect job.

I'm coming out of hiatus for a few minutes to give yinz a heads up:

To my fellow photosensitive epileptic friends: DO NOT go see the Incredibles 2. Apparently, there's a lot of scenes with strobe lights -- and, from what I understand, one clocks in at about two minutes solid. At no point are there any warnings.

It's hard to believe that, in this day and age, stuff like this is still being made, and without warnings, at that. But here we are.

Anyway, that's all the information I have.

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Mastodon, is in fact, a network of several pieces of interoperable software, or as I've recently taken to calling it, the Fediverse. Mastodon is not a network unto itself, but rather another compatible software in a fully functioning social network made useful by several compliant systems such as Pleroma comprising a full network as defined by the ActivityPub standard.

@Are0h i appreciate your toots and am glad you're here.
