So I dunno if it's just tumblr, but I regularly get people yelling at me about not identifying with 'queer' and how calling it 'universally reclaimed' is insensitive and i get anons like this

like is this a tumblr thing or is the entire LGBT+ turning into a cult-based queer club

@cyberlesbiab honestly most of the people I've seen who don't like the term use the same arguments that came up in the original use of LGBT: they want to seem "normal" and "fit in." I rarely find people who've had serious adversity due to their queerness who are active in the community who dislike the term

I feel like Tumblr is just a place where people aren't just misinformed, they're angry and misinformed

@vi Oh I'm one of those people who don't use the word, cause it's got a hurtful past for me and I actually don't like it being used for me, and I talk about that sometimes and I get anons like the one screenshotted

@cyberlesbiab oh, I completely misunderstood your post then

what I mostly meant is that Tumblr's discourse around the term is very hostile, and some people are very angrily misinformed about what the term is, and others are angry that some people have mixed histories with the term and don't want to use it

in general I prefer it to alphabet soup but also respect people's negative experiences with the word as well. I probably come off the wrong way
