@Troll I like the harmonic experimentation you're doing over the sus4 , which pretty much identifies the tune. I listened a couple of extra times because I didn't trust my first impression, and found I kinda dig it. Nice and chill, and unafraid to go chromatic. Plus I love the old school sound 😎
@Troll It's when you change to the F chord. The melody does some nifty stuff over that change that makes the F chord sound different each time. Hard to explain, but it's kewl.
I like stuff that takes risks and isn't just stock chord progressions, that's why I liked that piece -- I had to "get to know it," which is refreshing.
@upside I wish I actually understood the theory behind what you're saying. I only have my instincts from years of playing bass, and my wife's amazing ear as reference. Although she got overuled on a few note choices as I changed things to resolve chords vs. Placating to them. I guess my ear isn't so horrible either. Growing up playing metal has me more than comfortable with chromatics and pentatonics.
