In light of the most recent decision from Valve to allow any content on the platform without moderation while trying to justify it as "CONSUMER CHOICE" - I'll be boycotting Steam/Valve.

Well, time to finally bite the "it's going to be so saaaad" bullet and finish N.K. Jemisin's amazing Broken Earth trilogy.

Sometimes it really hits me that I like studying things a lot better than actually doing them. I have so many books on sewing and historical tailoring, but very little interest in using my sewing machine unless forced to.

Meanwhile, deciding on a language for school: "hmm, they offer Arabic... that'll mean I can badly translate more medieval medical texts, right?"

Reminder to myself today: Don't let the world take away your softness. Be kind, be vulnerable, for the world needs love and empathy far more than hardness and steel.

My favorite thing today is finding out there's a whole subgenre of "slice of life" that's just people being kind and taking care of kids/pets; it's so wholesome and sweet that it really helps make this day less terrible.

@badwrongfun Princess, Princess, is quite literally a story about a princess who is friends with the dragon, a prince who doesn't want to be a knight (and is told to fuck off at first until he gets over himself), and a lot of people upending various expectations. It's delightful.

@badwrongfun There's another short comic that was about a princess who was best friends with a dragon, who in turn ate all the knights that kept trying to win her like a prize, but I don't remember the name.

@MissSnarkerson I had a very, very long conversation with him about how grossly inappropriate it was to ask me to take it down a notch, and also how ridiculously shitty and offensive it was to try and determine if I was "just" trying to get him in trouble or if I was actually upset by it. He's a reformed libertarian, who still has some problems clearly, so we'll see if it sticks.

Follow up thread - bigoted conservative dude who whined about how he hated black people and liberals before giving me a death threat (on company time), is getting fired.

He'd "like to apologize" after threatening me with "his lawyer" for reporting his death threat.

Well, that's yet another death threat chalked up for me this week. I say this casually because humor helps me cope, but I'm actually pretty freaked out.

I sent a copy to the dude's employer and posted it to some relevant college sites.

I'm really disappointed in the mutual friend who tried to minimize the behavior, "100% he was wrong to do that, but also can you take it down he's freaking out and also he's just dumb he didn't mean it."

Actions have consequences.
