this is one of the many reasons that I believe voting should be made mandatory for those capable of voting, with a scaling fine based on income and net worth

(and yes that Would Cause Other Things, it's just my pet peeve, and I'm aware it can't be sold to the American public)

(also I think felons should get the right to vote back, but I ain't trying to start a debate)

not to mention all of these weird institutional hang-overs we have from monarchies, like the power to pardon, which is weird and bad and that may yet have bad results in the near future here
