Read. Assimilate. These are serious points to consider. All in all, the community here seems to mostly view people suggesting changes as probably silly, probably trying to make it "too twitter", but this is legit. This is stuff that stops Mastodon from welcoming people who could benefit from it's systems.

@tcql A few things:

* Some of these are valid points. Others are anathema to how this works.

* What do you propose for "verification"? I use a keybase.io account. How do you verify people's email addresses?

* "Dumbing it down" is stupid. They're always making a better idiot.

@Elizafox

- yea
- TBH verification is the one I'm most eeeehhhhhh about. Non-global-uniqueness is a feature not a bug, but I can see why it's a concern for abused communities
- better user experience isn't dumbing it down. not everybody thinks like you. better accessibility hurts noone and helps many

- yea, it's not twitter and that's good it shouldn't be πŸ‘

@tcql Verification is fine if you have a way to do it externally.

See my profile for how you can verify yourself.

@Elizafox agreed keybase works, but it's not really obvious for many. But I also don't really think that there's a built in solution that's any simpler for most people so
