young people: i wish i was an adult, then i wouldn't have school and there'd be no required reading and i would never have to read another book agai!
being an adult: i have a list of books, articles and tutorials that i hope someday i will have time to read before i die.
@tcql this is me.
@tcql oh that just hit so close
@tcql Seems like a logical progression. You get to choose (to a much greater extent, anyway) what to read when you're an adult, so of course you want to read it.
@tcql The big change here is no -required- reading.
I used to love reading stuff, until I had to dissect it. Then it utterly annihilated any joy I got from it.
It's different when you lose yourself in something you enjoy, rather than something you're forced to do and may not exactly enjoy.
(Which reminds me, shit, I should try to make it through the Maximum Ride series again. Probably Patterson's books that led me into being a furry in the first place, hah)
this is Extremely Realβ’;
at this point I just keep bookmarking things i want to look at when i see an interesting but long article or tutorial.
but literally in the past year i have removed nothing from that list.
and books... books... *looks towards the horizon, voice becoming distant*
now that's a name i've not heard in a long time
