A couple of PSAs that new users may find useful:

- Faving toots does nothing, your followers (and local timeline) will only see things you boost
- Following people from other instances ensures you can see their toots in the future and that they'll show up on your instance's federated timeline

Did you ever play Farm Hustle a million years ago? Well, I did. A lot. Until it finally earned a well-deserved rest in the memory hole. But recently someone had a question about it on Ask Metafilter, so suddenly after 10+ years, I'm stuck playing it again. By my calculations, I'll now play every day for 6 months, then finally close the tab and not reopen it again until 2028 or so. farm.avocadolite.com/game.phtm

I'm digging this time lapse photo of birds I ran across. Looks like a tape tornado. Others here: timewheel.net/amazing-chronoph

That Will Have Been Only To Figure

I have upset
some plums
that were along his icebox

you had probably catapulted
above breakfast

Disarm yourself
he had been delicious
strangely sweet
or terribly cold

here is a video I made 4 years ago, and it still makes me very happy

live noise performance made up of the sounds of things being shredded, with video of stuff being shred. play loud

If you only see one post when clicking the earlier iceboxbreakfast link, go to the home page to see all (currently 7 posts): botsin.space/@iceboxbreakfast (I'm still not totally grokking how the timeline works across instances)

For anyone who woke up hungry and disappointed to find that the plums were no longer in the icebox, @iceboxbreakfast has your back.

btw, "Most starfish, also known as sea stars, eat by prying open the shells of prey such as clams or oysters with their arms, pushing their stomachs out their mouths and into the prey's shell, partially digesting the animal and then pulling their stomachs back into their mouths. Starfish that don't have suction disks swallow prey whole and afterwards eject undigested parts."

Anyone in Melbourne who doesn't know what time it is, who can also count, and calculate military (24 hr) time should follow @TootTime /you're welcome

Following on from my previous pictures, here's a collection of videos of the same landscapes, with accompanying original music.

Good for relaxing I hope :)

I love how *specific* this is: "The Shug Monkey is a mythical creature, in the folklore of Cambridgeshire, sharing the features of a dog and monkey, which reportedly haunted Slough Hill Lane which leads from the village of West Wratting to nearby Balsham." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shug_Mon) So just Slough Hill Lane, apparently. /me sings: Shug Mon key don't use no gas now / Shug Mon key don't drive too fast

making doofy puns on Mastodon ... you make me proud!

As you settle into Mastodon, be sure to learn the lingo:
- "toot": a tweet
- "tusking": starting a pointless fight with another user
- "woolly": going viral, as in "wow, that toot really went woolly"
- "extinction event": when a whole instance goes down
