So, I guess I ought to do an #introductions post: #Queer, #non-binary, #geek from NW UK. Into #SF, #SciFi #Fantasy (#reading, tv/film), #theatre, #music, #politics (if this becomes part of my flow, i talk a lot about #Brexit (oh dear god), #welfare, #queer, #privacy and #digital etc.) #cats are lovely but a poor substitute for a #dragon
@tats have you read any from Robin Hobb? reading Liveship Traders at the moment and loving it (Farseer trilogy comes first but may not be necessary..?) I'd always recommend the Gormenghast books (first two at least, after that they're unfinished but excellent audio adaptation recently from BBC)... what do you like?
@penwing I love Robin Hobb! The Rain Wild Chronicles and the Liveship Traders are my favorites. I've never read Gormenghast but just looked it up, and it sounds amazing. Thank you!
Robin Hobb is a great barometer for my taste, but I loved Melina Marchetta's Lumatere Chronicles, Susan Cooper's Dark is Rising sequence, and the usuals Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett (don't know if they count as fantasy, but anyway.) GoT, of course, but I can't reread the books-can't face the heartbreak.
@penwing ooh. I just stopped by my library and unfortunately they either don't carry those, or are out! Guess I'll have to wait for this particular fix...
