re that post i boosted from @qyliss talks about how not only is the space of fuckery there if you can't trust your instance admin, but also there even if your instance admin does everything almost “right”, because the attacker isn't a rogue user, but rogue Instance. tl;dr the effective level of privacy may very well be at 🐦's level, but with a far bigger attack surface (i.e. all instances).
