I know a lot of good cops. Plenty are content to let people alone as long as they follow the law, and most won't bother with small things.

There's plenty of bad cops too. Some are literally Nazis. There's more far-right people in the police force than the national average.

It's really weird and I don't know what to tell people other than "it's not fair to put all cops in that bin when most of them aren't the ones who are attacking you..."

I am tired of apologizing and differentiating myself from Stalinists as a social democrat. I can't make them not deny things like the Holdomor.

I'm on the far-left (libertarian left) and I can't make them do anything. I can't CHANGE them. I can't change that kind of culture in a subset of the left.

It's not right to lump us all in as the same people when it's a a subgroup doing it, even if it's the majority.

@Nire There is a lot to say about cop culture being fucked up. A large subset of cops are fucked up. There is no denying.

But there are good cops who have tried to change the system and have literally been tossed out of the force or died in the process (yes, really).

Some cops are shitbags who shouldn't even be security guards. Claiming they *all* are because of that subgroup is not appreciably different than saying all Muslims are terrorist.

yes, in theory i can leave my religion, it's a system of thought with adherents. but unless I'm willing to abandon everything, including my relatives, my past, my name, i will always be suspect. I don't *look* Muslim, but that's also a consideration, esp. for other brown ppl, some of who aren't.

You can leave a profession.
