I've been wondering how viable it is at this point to bootstrap your own space station. Actually, I did some sketches on my notepad and basically, I think I can work out a not-completely-terrible space station for a few million (this is totally an awesome idea and I reject your reality)

One complication is the docking port design

@cypnk Bigelo (probably not the right spelling) has had this idea for inflatable station parts and it is amazing.

I think they were sending up modules to the ISS to test them out already. It’s actually the most sensible approach since you’re saving weight and space on the way up there
