I've noticed a progression in liberalizing social mores. The losing side gets increasingly oppressive as it loses ground; then a tipping point is reached and things cascade. We saw this with gay marriage; increasingly strident DOMA laws/amendments, then SCOTUS invalidates them all.
I think we're seeing it now in the US for the 'white as minority' stance. It's a lot of why 45 was elected.
This is why a lot of the social safetynet is getting dismantled, since those are used more regularly by undeserving (a.k.a. 'freeloading') brown people. And we can't abide freeloaders; you have to WORK dammit. Just like Grandpa did.
