The one thing I was taught in school that has been most useful in my professional career is the ability to form an answer by restating the question.

If you like writing fic, Tanya Huff's worlds are VERY neglected on AO3 and her characters just beg for some extra backstory and relationship development - a lot of it happens "off screen" so to speak and I love the characters so much I want more details!!

I thought the next book in Tanya Huff's Peacekeeper series was coming out today, but actually it's coming out June 19.

I am very impatient.

If you haven't read Huff, consider it. She is so good at characters and so versatile - each of her series feels so different! Also she's a queer Newfie who lives with her partner and cats in the boonies in Ontario.

Hey everyone, hopefully I start working this week but at the moment I need help feeding myself. I have a job lined up but there’s a layover time so I won’t get my first paycheck until next month. Anything would help.
here is my paypal: paypal.me/JourneiG

If you're lucky enough to live in a house with air conditioning, you'll know how much electricity the damn thing uses. Let's talk thermodynamics! Put a big fan in the top floor of your house, facing the window. At night, open the window, turn the fan on full blast facing OUT. Now open a window in the lowest room in your house. All the hot air gets sucked out and replaced with cool night air, and you won't need to run the AC tomorrow unless it's a REAL scorcher. The fan uses WAY less juice.

the clouds like a rumpled bedspread, soft light everywhere from nowhere, a sweater. it's a beautiful day friends.

New rule: If you want to write a thinkpiece about "the state of AI" but do not have a tech background, you must first spend two hours fighting Microsoft Excel over what is and what isn't a date

The "rich people reinventing basic public services" genre gets less funny when you realize they mean privately-run versions that can exclude undesirables.

I'm not a fan of Don Henley's songs, but

I been tryin' to get down to the heart of the matter,
but everything changes, and my friends seem to scatter,
but I think it's about

Thinking about what you did is often harmful unless you also think about WHY, and then forgive yourself for not being perfect.

libraries are such an important space

not only for free information, but especially for at risk populations and homeless populations

they offer free or very cheap internet access (which allows for finding resoucres, job applications, etc), free access to information, bathrooms, often places have refreshments for relatively cheap as well, etc. etc.

wanting to make public libraries obsolete is classist and just an incorrect viewpoint tbh
