I'm only 10% thru The Minority Body. TMB is by disabled analytic philosopher Elizabeth Barnes. Medical and social model of disability have some glaring inadequacies + AP view is horrifying. She fillets AP view and builds a new theory drawing a lot from disability rights+pride for physical disability. Like watching someone dance with knives. So graceful and sharp you don't notice your argument is being cut to ribbons. #books #illness

I've also only just started The Body in Pain. This book ended up on my reading list because of an article on torture citing it that I read a long time ago. The way chronic migraine affects me echoed the article's description of the effects of torture on its victims. Obviously torture and chronic migraine are really fucking different, so how could the aftermath have so much in common? So, I'm reading about pain and what it does to people. #books
