it is so annoying how many of my metafilter comments get deleted. I am nice and pretty boring and always read the whole thread and the article before I comment.

Also annoying is how the overwrought and insular and gargantuan US politics threads have so fucked up the site that I can't talk about #canpoli or policy elsewhere if it has to do at all with US effects on us. I can understand why the mods kill those comments - because instead of an actual discussion or a few short responses before the convo moves on, you get 67 screechers about irrelevant US political minutiae that no one else in the world knows or cares about. But 😒

@susannah I feel like this is more of a thing than it used to be, like any thread about politics elsewhere in the world becomes a thread on US politics in a hot minute and like why even bother.
