@emdeesee I'm not actively tooting from it, but the usual instructions for installing mastodon worked fine for me on debian 9 using a digitalocean $5/month droplet. It's been running for a few days now with no resource consumption problems. I did have to allocate a 2GB swap file though. I just followed the https://github.com/tootsuite/documentation/blob/master/Running-Mastodon/Production-guide.md instructions. It took a little more time than I expected, so set aside an afternoon.

What happens to a #mastodon instance when it goes away forever? How do other servers in the fediverse know to stop contacting it? Or will the contacts continue forever, if the system remains up but serving (say) 404s back?

To me it seems like truly defeating Alduin should also heal the time wound, so my interpretation is that it's *not* ultimate defeat.

Personally, I suspect that when the Dragonborn dies, all those dragon souls will be released... and that until then the Dragonborn who has absorbed Alduin's soul probably has within herself the power to be the destroyer of the world if she so chooses.
