That "git blame" is called that instead of "git credit" or the like is an example of needed emotional labor not being performed in tech.

One doesn't "blame" their teammates for the code that works, which usually constitutes the bulk of a code base.

#introductions #introduction Hey y'all, I'm new to the whole solarpunk (and mastodon) thing, but I'm happy to be here! V interested in programming and technical solutions to achieve solarpunky results. I'm a maker/developer by habit and by trade, so ways to improve people's lives using tech is a genuine concern. None of the usual libertarian, "tech will save us from ourselves" bs, please. Tech is useful, but ultimately subservient to our ideologies.

Still think "piracy" is a terrible word for breaking copyright, as if you're going around with weapons and taking over ships by killing the crew and threatening the captain with death.

It's much closer to poaching, where you're illegally eating animals from a ruler or nobleman's somewhat arbitrary recreational hunting grounds. That may be bad for the ecosystem, depending on context; it almost never directly physically harms the person who owns or cares for the land you're poaching on.

(1/n) So I've been reforming how I do computers for the past 6 months and got a little burnt out on learning new things and a little too rigid about doing things dogmatically correctly from the start. I'm chilling out a bit, and remembering an important rule for actually getting things done: do what works.

What that means to y'all is that I'm re-organizing my all-documentation projects as MkDocs sites, using Gitlab.com for repo hosting & OpenProject for project management.

My Internet died for a moment and it reminded me that I'm too dependent on the Internet, but setting up proper dev environment inside windows 10 and/or chromeos isn't fun.

@ebel @starbreaker I keep hearing about asciidoc, and another LWML that Debian uses for docs. I should compare....

@starbreaker I recently discovered asciidoc (and the tool asciidoctor) and it seems cool. Powerful, plain text, but with much more features than plain markdown. And you can generate PDFs without having to go via LaTeX

Just watched 2001: A Space Odyssee on 70mm in the cinema for the first time ever. Mindblowing. Sooo way ahead of its time. I had to keep reminding myself that it was made in 1968.
