So, I found a couple likely candidates, one has a 128G sdd, the other a 520G @7200rpm, otherwise identical. Not sure about the speed trade-off vs storage.
@wiccat The SSD will also give you improved battery life. The question is how much do you plan to put on that machine, and whether you can offload most of it to external storage?

Hadn't thought about ssd impact on battery life. That's probably the kicker. Offloading is trivial, esp with a thumb drive as big as the ssd. Time to start convincing my partner it's a viable expenditure.
