I know it's silly, but something about Direct Peer-to-peer and other kinds of non-internet (mesh?)-networking really appeals to me.
@ajroach42 been thinking about this a lot and have decided it's not silly. we're very used to setting up and maintaining direct peer relationships and social meshes; we do it in our "personal lives" every day in myriad ways. what /is/ silly is to think we'd be (or remain) comfortable delegating that function to external entities with different priorities so easily. ;)
Never underestimate the bandwidth of a multi-terabyte USB hard drive and a comfortable pair of shoes.
Not saying sneakernet is easy. Just saying it's possible when all else fails.
@starbreaker @djsundog Agreed!
What I want though, is a way to do sneakernet where I don't have to trust the sneakers.
@starbreaker @djsundog Sure, but then the neighbor and I have to be home at the same time, and willing to talk to one another.
And that only solves the problem for one neighbor.
