@spacekookie i wonder how many rewrites happen not because of a technological advancement, but because the technical and financial incentives of one company don't align with another.

take Kubernetes: mainframe not good enough. here you can now run mainframe all by yourself, on shit hardware that supports none of its features, and when it breaks, you get to keep all the pieces.

to some this technological leap, seems like an obvious, staggering advancement of IBM's… business model.
