@maloki Yeah, it's likely a way to distance and make things easier on himself. But it sucks b/c the decision wasn't ours to make. Blurgh. I hate this. Thankfully we move to a different part of the office in two days.

At this point I just want to move to the new part of our office so that I don't have to feel his silence/frustration. He's just stewing in it. And it sucks that its all on him and our higher ups. I hope that its just for a few days and that it calms down, but I have my doubts.
@sonicbooming They should have just given him a month's severance pay and let him go, instead of humiliating him like that, even if he did bring it upon himself by underperforming.
@starbreaker I mean, it sucks but just a few months ago they had a different promotion/job available, a lot of people applied and were passed up.
They advised him he can reapply in another few months, so we'll see if he reapplies himself and buckles down to give them what they want. Up to him at this point.
You can't do much but be kind at this point. They might get promoted later? Good luck... 😭 👀
