@rosjackson @Starling You're not wrong, but as you say, that's ultimately going to depend on the types of individuals/accounts you follow.
There's definitely more customization and control with Mastodon instances, so that makes quite a difference.
I do just think that this place has more of an "early days of twitter" vibe before it became all corporate and all media driven. It's about the human interactions you make with other people.

@sonicbooming @Starling I'm starting to wonder whether some of the negativity is because you can't easily mute all RTs like you can here. When you consider the source of what's upsetting over there, it's not often someone you're actively following; it's more likely to be something RT'ed by one of your followers that they're reacting to. YMMV of course.
