Sesame Street, a show created for public access television to help kids from low-income families learn to read and write, is being put being a paywall which will prevent the kids who most need it from accessing it.
The past 50 seasons are also included in that so they can't be streamed anywhere else.
Pirate Sesame Street.
I found this yesterday. If both Neil's can have impostor syndrome, then yeah, there aren't any grown-ups. 💙
I'm teaching an online writing course for The Loft next month, but right now enrollment is low and the class is in danger of getting canceled. Please share this with anyone who might be interested! I'm really looking forward to this class.
The subject is weird fiction, fabulism, and magical realism as emotional truth-telling powerhouses. We'll read some of my very favorite fiction and start writing our own 😊
something that's been on my mind lately: white folks spend So Much time and money killing plants just because they aren't the one kind of plant they want growing there. like... nature is so abundant, if we just stopped fucking poisoning and chopping things all day long there would be plants everywhere in like 3 months. many of those would be edible. we spend so much energy just stopping nature from doing its thing.
(this is not a metaphor but it could be. what are you weedwhacking in your soul?)
The fact bigots just can't leave us alone highlights that if we emphasize deplatforming them from our networks and isolate them to communities that don't have access to us, they would just eat each other.
They are just miserable people that want to spread their self loathing to others. That's why they get so upset when we set a hard boundary.
They have no interest in growth and making better spaces.
They're just bad people.
🌶️ : Im going to stop buying into the industry narrative about ad blockers. They are not ad blockers, they are content blockers. The content I am choosing to control happens to come from advertising networks that have proven to be vectors for malware infections and misbehaviour for years. I'm not blocking ads, I'm not stealing from you, I'm protecting my systems just like I would with an anti-virus program.
Slightly strange, quiet, moody loner who tries to have fun. Also tends to be an early riser and yet not a morning person.
