I'm having one of those days where the world seems like an intensely frightening place.

Oops. I woke up at... Maybe three AM? Checked email and stuff, didn't feel sleepy, decided to read a chapter or two of my book, which I hadn't really started yet.

Nearly halfway through now, completely intrigued and fascinated. (The book: SLEEPING GIANTS by Sylvain Neuvel.)

Oh goody. Suddenly, I am extra sensory-defensive and I don't know why. EVERYONE STOP MAKING NOISE OR I WILL CRY OR SOMETHING.

COMPUTER STOP MAKING NOISE.

Clothes, stop touching my skin!

...This is fun.

I'm not up at nearly 5am because I'm nervous about my bunny's neutering later today. Not at all.

New post up on NEAT science! About the latest paper on the potential for life on Saturn's moon Enceladus: neatscienceblog.wordpress.com/

I sometimes picture mastodon as those Haven cities in zombie films.

"I heard it's safe! They got food, clean water, and the brands ain't got up there yet!"

My one day old science blog has already been criticised for not explaining everything in science yet. I'm crying in a corner, truly.

First post is up on my blog: "Why do people say there's global warming when it gets colder here every year?" neatscienceblog.wordpress.com/

My pop science blog is operational now, by the way! neatscienceblog.wordpress.com/ Nothing major there yet, but it's coming...

I drew a shocked face on @Ehlyah's shoulder and I keep cracking up when I see it.

But! Positives:

- I have a couple of posts and a bio ready for my science blog, and I have decided on the name.

- I have read two books today and I am happy.

- My grandma-in-law makes good cake.

I have survived the weekend. Ish. I am so not looking forward to getting back to studying tomorrow, particularly since I loathe one of the topics.

I also need to come up with a name for the blog. My emphasis is biology, but I read widely and voraciously, so posts wouldn't be limited to that. Any ideas? Restrictions: nothing gendered, nothing hard to say.

So I've been thinking for a while about running a popular science blog, trying to communicate science to the wider community. Now I'm gathering ideas for posts: what would you like to see? Any misconceptions that drive you crazy? Anything you want to know?

Two posts I have in mind: why XX and XY aren't the end of the story, and why local weather isn't always responding to climate change by warming.

This weekend is going to involve too many people and I'm not ready.

(Calling would involve trying to speak to Dutch or French speakers while my own Dutch is non-existent and my French awkward, plus I don't hear very well on the phone.)

Rar. I ordered food an hour and a half ago and still nothing. Too anxious-shy to call and ask wtf, so just sort of waiting... and waiting... and waiting... also feeling sick with hunger.

So Breakfast weighed 800g on Saturday. After a couple of days off his food, we weighed him on Tuesday: 950g. Yesterday, 960g. Today, 1004g. He's still off his food, and yet...

Baffled.
