Are there any important precedents for #InstallationArt in which scent/smell plays an important role? Of course, it's often a by-product of the particular materials chosen. But I wonder if there are examples where the scent was specifically conceived or even composed?
@sciss Punchdrunk use smell a lot, composed, yes.

@sciss This is something I've been working on/considering for immersive theatre for awhile, now. I used scent to an extent in a play I directed in 2012, but it wasn't as much a part of it as I would have liked. There's a good and comprehensively researched essay on its use in contemporary art here: http://www.academia.edu/17635846/SCENT_IN_CONTEMPORARY_ART_An_Investigation_Into_Challenges_and_Exhibition_Strategies
