@schmod @prismatic7 One might argue that is both the strength and weakness of private comms instances.
A safer environment, but less exposure to the chance of neat people and stuff.
I just expressed a full thought without having to abbreviate anything.

I'm also in a private slack that's incredibly great (especially as a diversion from #mefi, which has seemed increasingly difficult for me, post-November), but the fact that it's a closed community really bothers me.
I'm going to end up overfollowing on here too, aren't I?
@prismatic7 @Samizdata Well, to be fair, I never quite understood #thatotherplace from the start. Felt mostly like shouting into a void, which would occasionally echo back spam.
Or. Heck. A very loosely-coupled IRC integration would even be kinda interesting.
@Samizdata @prismatic7 Hmm. Seems like this could benefit from some kind of space for private groups/communities?
Not sure if that would work with the federation model... but it might be a good alternative to the private Slack instances that keep popping up.
