So this piece doesn't mention Mastodon or the Fediverse but it does a nice job at outlining something I've been thinking about and something that, I think, is helping bring people to Mastodon
"The year we wanted the internet to be smaller" https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/28/16795090/internet-community-2017-post-mortem-tumblr-amino-drip-tinyletter
@schlink the verge even wrote about us before, why not even a mention? This is worrying me
@gargron I wouldn't sweat it much. If anything I'd say that Mastodon isn't as _obviously_ a "designed-to-be-small/cozy" network like TinyLetter is or even Tumblr was. Does that make sense? Maybe another selling angle for those looking to leave Twitter & Facebook though?
@schlink I guess I'm still upset about the ars technica non-mention. I want mastodon to be on the media's radar, to be taken seriously. They wrote about us in april but now they don't remember? weh
it also makes me realize the importance of how "discovery" features like search are implemented, on Mastodon and other social networks.
