What else...
- Getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on a System76 Oryx Pro
- Using Wire and KeePassXC everyday
- September is the best month in New York
@schlink Re: System76, they look nice, but check the battery life. I think I'm going to go with an XPS 15 after the next CPU refresh.
KeePassXC is great! Swapped away from LastPass and haven't looked back.
I use Signal over Wire, just because I have a social network there now.
@andschwa ah yeah, I actually _think_ I can live with the Oryx's two hour battery life. I don't use my Mac on battery much currently, and if I need to do that later I'm thinking of getting a Chromebook.
@schlink It's only _two hours_?! I end up using mine on battery more than I'd expected, but to each their own! I do like what System76 is doing.
@andschwa yeah, according to Ars Technica:
~ 1.5 hours for the Oryx Pro https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/11/system76-oryx-pro-review-linux-in-a-laptop-has-never-been-better/
And ~ 3.5 hours for their Galago Pro https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/08/review-system76s-galago-pro-solves-just-works-linuxs-goldilocks-problem/
@andschwa Does Dell offer a XPS 15 with Ubuntu installed? Or would you just pay for Windows and wipe it?
@schlink I might have to pay for the stupid Windows license :( The XPS 13 has an Ubuntu option. And I have _heard_ but not confirmed that you can get the XPS 15 through the business channels without Windows... so I'll try!
@schlink i didn't know you're in New York.
