TIL about Home Assistant, "open source home automation that puts local control and privacy first. Powered by a worldwide community of tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts. Perfect to run on a Raspberry Pi or a local server."

someone sell me a box that runs all my stuff (email, media, lightbulbs, personal Masto instance, KeePass vaults, website, blog, git repos, slack/twitter bots) pleaseeee

@noelle yep, I've considered it for sure! I was more referring to all the software setup/choices. Obviously it'd be fun and useful to figure it all out myself, but I think maintenance would be tough and things like email would be too much for me (hence the appeal of something like Helm[1])

@schlink I keep thinking about making such a thing. Unfortunately my free time is close to non-existent. So my plan b is to figure out how to operate this RockPro64 box I'm building in as user-friendly a fashion as possible and then share what I come up with.

"Share" meaning probably "contribute to @cloud "

@freakazoid @schlink we have containers for most things 😉

the bots and email are outside our scope though.

@schlink Looks like @nextcloud could be a good start 👍Running own mail server is probably the most challenging though 🤔 For smart home Domoticz is nice choice 🤓
