@saturno Yes, I'll be marching somewhere!

@pzmyers I am thinking to attend but I am not very keen since I use to be critical to the Western academic system and there is no criticism at all motivating this march-for-science movement. Let's see...

@saturno it's so sad that we have to do this, that science needs marching for

@southbird Well, science is having a tough time since the last 2 decades

@saturno My husband helps with organizing the march in Göttingen, Germany.

@saturno Forgot to mention: We'll both be joining that march. :grin:

@Taleel Very nice. I have seeing there are several in Germany.

@saturno I'm not big on joining or crowds. Plus, the lack of clear mission for this event has been worrisome. I'm more hoping that orgs get their act together to place some real organized pressure that I can get behind. I have been disappointed so far. Until then, I'll be the change I hope to see in the world best I can.

@Idoubtit @saturno Thats why I'm opting for the #climatemarch on the 29th instead. Established org, and scheduled far in advance of the #sciencemarch.

@Idoubtit @inurlibrary who is organizing that? Could you provide me some info please?

@saturno @Idoubtit People'a Climate March, sponsored by the People's Climate Movement, 350.org, peoplesclimate.org/?source=350

@saturno @Idoubtit Same groups as organized the People's Climate March in 2014.

@saturno Schedule has freed up and there's a march where I live! Hopefully I'll be attending 😁

@saturno I've been hearing some disappointing things about the organization of some of the local marches and the ways in which they've approached issues of diversity.

No clue as to how this has been dealt in other places, or in areas in which it is not as much of a present political issue as in the US.

More specifically: twitter.com/JacquelynGill/stat

@saturno Yeah, it does suck. But that same thread points to some other local marches (only in the US) in which things are apparently a lot better.

And maybe these other marches that people have pointed out raise similar topics about science, minus the ostrich-approach to issues outside their navels?
