@sapadian They're just emojis-- some people use them to indicate that it's their primary account on their primary instance, others just to be funny, like being verified on the birdcage website.
@sapadian there is a proposal to put this to mean "I am most active on this server" because some people have been hopping around across different instances
@8zu is it something I can do to verify myself or does a bot see my activity and just pop it in, thanks

@sapadian the green check marks are just emoji added to the screen name. Took me a bit to figure that out
@sapadian It's a unicode character, anyone can put it in their name. It's a running joke that Twitter handed out checkmarks for 'verified' like they were medals, and here anyone can have one.
