Linux desktops could be a lot better, but copy/pasting from macOS is not the best way to go about fixing it

@jordyd I agree. I figure that if you like OSX that much, then stop fucking around with Linux and set up a #hackintosh.

Then again, I think you've seen my ideal Unix desktop. It looks somewhat like this:

If I'm working with text, then a command line interface is all I need. X11 and a good terminal app is all the desktop I need most of the time.

The hard thing with that is it is not easy to hackintosh or economically feasible for everyone to get a Mac. I think the guys point of view is that free software needs to make itself more intuitive for end users who want macOS level of simple without the costs associated with it.

I think the problem, at least where GNOME 3.x is concerned, is that the developers honestly think they ARE making the software more intuitive for end users who want macOS-level simplicity. Unfortunately, it's failing miserably.

I agree, but I think many of Apple's woes are self-inflicted. People have always derided Apple gear as overpriced and underpowered, but that meme is more true now than it has ever been.
