I really want there to be a modern Digimon game that's closer in style to the anime. From what I've seen Digimon World sort of covers that, (one digimon partner that evolves as you go) though I think it'd be awesome, but Digimon Links (mobile game) forgoes that for a rather bland monster collector game, when it could be so much better.
@salmon_cannon Oh wait I didn't see the note about World.
@badwrongfun I only just became aware of the existence of Digimon World, and I think it'd be a fantastic premise to build on with current gen tech.
@badwrongfun yes that! That's what I liked about the anime, it was a relationship you had with your partner and not jamming them into little balls.
@salmon_cannon There were two JRPGs that directly are more adaptations of the animation. Digimon Data Squad on the PS2 and Digimon Adventure on the PSP. Unless you mean something like Digimon World or Digimon World Re:Code where it's more you taking care of a singular digimon like the v-pets that goes through the life stages over and over as the two of you explore the open world island you're on and build up a village.
