@BrunoLefevre it would probably make sense for people to create language-based instances
@Nash recovering followers would be hard but I can imagine that it's quite possible to recover your "toots" by pulling together all of the data from another instance where one of your followers lives.
@Nash you can export your entire account (including people who you follow) and move it to another instance in your settings. Not sure how it behaves with followers
@leo it kind of seems like each instance will tend towards consuming the "firehose" of all other instances which is where my concern lie
@leo I wonder how that will scale if mastodon expands to 1 million users or 1 billion
@zachss probably caused by slightly incorrect time settings on some of the instances
@SexyCyborg cf Google Plus. I remember about 90% of the posts in the first few months were about the merits of Google plus. For mastodon to succeed, we need "normal" people who just want to use it and don't necessarily care about how perfect it is as a platform.

@lrshdl you can export your account from one instance and then import into another. That's probably as close as you will get
