@butlermatt you're a Rust developer!! That's so awesome! I've been trying to figure out a side project so I could get some exposure to Rust.
@butlermatt Nice! We use Go, Ruby, Scala, Java, Python and Elixer at my job.
@rhymiz I'm trying to add Go, but primarily we use Dart, then Java, JavaScript and Python and a little Scala. Much of which is all open source on Github, with some proprietary stuff built on top of it.

Go is very, very fast. We make our Go services work pretty hard.

I think you'd be much happier using Rust as a C replacement (if that's your plan).
@rhymiz Haha sadly it's not my "plan". For me, the best thing to do is implement it myself, then bring it to management and "Hey look what I did" and get it seriously considered as a replacement then.
@butlermatt That makes sense. I've seen people take that approach before. Result is usually 50/50.
@rhymiz There are some factors that make it more likely to succeed in the current case, including the fact that one of the main C developers has since left and there are bugs to deal with. But first it's wrapping my head around Rust while also tackling a bunch of other work

I think Rust is a little easier to wrap your head around than C, at least, for someone who hasn't done any kind of work in C.
There is a learning curve, but it's not too bad. In my opinion, of course.
