Hello, Octodonners. It looks like Alice's patreon in support of our chosen instance has plateaued. Please do what you can to help our friendly neighborhood cyberpunk queen, @CobaltVelvet

Donating is grand; boosting this, even, will be helpful, to get the message around.

the fine line between mint condition and mince condition

Huh, I misspelled Dannii Minogue's first name. You'd think autocorrect would've caught that.

Another thing that sucks about "The Locomotion": it has a line about "my little baby sister", which just serves as a reminder that Danni Minogue is now 45 and time is fleeting.

Kylie is basically Samuel Beckett is what I'm saying.

(Also why is "got/gotten" a pair but not "caught/caughten"? this is one of those Anglo vs Norman things isn't it?)

I love Kylie, but "The Locomotion" has always left me cold. My brain has not gotten the memo though: the song has been stuck in my head for about an hour. I've even caught myself doing absentmindedly doing some moves.

It helped a bit when I reimagined it as a saucy song called "The Low Commotion". COULD BE ABOUT BUTTS.

If my insomniac trend continues, in less than a week I'll be waking up an hour before I go to bed.

Also, if you're going to drink and go on a spending spree, the Indian grocery is the place to go.

"Woo hoo! Look at all the stuff we got! This is so crazy and off the hook-"

"That'll be 13 dollars."

"Christ we're responsible."

Kitty's "OK Cupid" was 5 years ago, which means we've hit the event horizon where if you're not a fetus, you're old. I'ma go drink.

"Fucking machines" sounds all sexy and cool, but turns out it's just the generic term for all modern paper towel dispensers (as in "Grah! None of these fucking machines are designed well!").

Gasp! Tusky actually served a notification on my phone. *swoons at the sheer impossibility of it all*

This guy wrote a little play for his Amazon Echo and Google Home to perform together. It's all scripted, but it kinda makes my skin crawl, in a "There Will Come Soft Rains" way.

The problem with having somewhat smart cats is that they also use their smarts to learn the things you don't want them to.

One tiny positive out of Spicer's deeply troubling and embarrassing press conference: it reminded me that I still haven't been to our local Holocaust Memorial Center and I should probably change that. SE Michiganders, it's over in Farmington Hills.

I get that horrible 3D CGI that doesn't aesthetically match with the 2D work is a convention of anime as a medium. I know that. I've known it for decades.

But lands' sakes, those horses in the AOT season 2 premiere were STILL an embarrassment.

monetizing mastodon is actually easy and good:
-make a instance
-fill with bots that act like people
-charge brands to get in
-keep it from reaching the fediverse

my brain is working at maybe 60% today. I mean of its usual capacity. Which is still an improvement over last week, which was at about 45. Something is tethering me fiercely. I can't see its shape, but I suspect it has my face.

whatever it is is also making me generate emo lyrics, which is not the creative outlet I'm looking for.

(I actually only just started checking out Moomins too, so yeah, it's been a weekend of Suomic discovery I guess.)

I watched synchronized skating for the first time today, and now I don't want to put anything else into my eyeholes. I guess I have to move to Finland to do that? Cool, they got Moomins and reindeer up that way too.

Worked out semi-seriously for the first time in four weeks (I've had some health stuff that killed my momentum, among other things). A 20-odd minute Jessica Smith thing for beginners, and it turned out to be rough to get through. I might have been more under the weather than I thought.
